So here I am, welcome to my website!

It’s been a while since I’ve wanted to have my own website, and I think I might have chosen the best possible moment to create it. Let me tell you why.

AI

I know, AI is everywhere, and I’m a bit tired of hearing about it too, but not because I don’t want it. It’s rather because I wish it was just normal already. The fact is, without AI this blog would probably never have come to light, at least not in the form I had in mind.

Thanks to AI (pi and Opencode Go are my saviors, but I’ll talk about my tools in a future post) this website is exactly how I imagined it. Since I’m mainly a backend developer, I had no frontend skills whatsoever, nor did I know the best tools to use.

What I used

I wanted something lightweight but also relatively new (I like being on the bleeding edge of tech in general), and I went with Astro. I already knew about it, but after a quick chat with Steve I decided to go for it.

The stack is simple: everything lives in a private repo, connected to Netlify for deployment. Every time I push to the main branch, the deploy goes live on Netlify, and that’s it! Super simple and easy to update (for us developers, at least).

All posts are Markdown files. Astro natively supports those, so the annotations in the frontmatter are used on the website, and all links work as expected. I think people should keep things really simple, and this is the way to go for me.

What’s next

I’ll update this website whenever I have something worth a blog post. In any case, my /now page should stay up to date (or at least I’ll try to).
